Housing Minister Peter Milczyn announced more funding for social housing retrofits. Over the next five years, using proceeds from the province’s carbon market, the province will provide up to $657 million for repairs and upgrades to make social housing apartment towers more energy-efficient. CHF Canada released a statement, welcoming the funding.

Minister Milczyn chose to make this announcement from the rooftop garden of Hugh Garner Housing Co-op in Toronto, a co-op that has taken on sustainability initiatives over the years.

Toronto Mayor John Tory spoke of the positive impact of the funding on Toronto’s social housing. MPP Han Dong (Trinity-Spadina) and Councillor Ana Bailao (Ward 18 Davenport) were also there in support of the funding announcement.
