The federal government’s support has been instrumental in building new co-ops, and we can continue to work together to invest in shovel-ready housing co-ops across the country. Importantly, we discussed the need to protect and grow deeply affordable co-op homes through rental assistance. The Federal Community Housing Initiative is a lifeline for many co-op members; programs like this must be extended for new and existing co-ops to sustain deeper affordability.
