WE RESOLVE:

• THAT member housing co-operatives work with CHF Canada and regional federations to Fix the Co op Housing Crunch by calling on the Government of Canada and all levels of government to:
  • ensure that savings from expiring subsidies for low-income co-op households are reinvested in new long-term cost-shared rent supplement programs, to be delivered by provinces and territories (and by municipalities in Ontario);
  • commit immediately to finding a solution to address the end of federal funding agreements;
  • ensure that federal co-ops now receiving federal RGI assistance continue to be eligible for assistance under the new rental assistance programs, and that these programs ensure that co-ops will maintain their operating autonomy and their mixed-income communities;
• THAT CHF Canada and its members work in partnership with regional federations of housing co-ops on the Fix the Co-op Housing Crunchcampaign, and support each other’s lobbying efforts;
• AND THAT CHF Canada and its members support the work of stakeholder groups, such as the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM), the Canadian Housing and Renewal Association (CHRA), and the provincial and municipal governments that are speaking out on this critical issue.
