For more than 50 years, co-ops have provided good quality, affordable housing owned and managed by the community members who live there.
Representing 85% of housing co-ops nationwide, CHF Canada is the national voice for co-operative housing in Canada.
CHF Canada works with our regional federations and partners to develop and deliver various programs, from advocacy to education.

CHF Canada Strategic Plan
CHF Canada’s new Strategic Plan sets up a clear course for the next five years. It affirms CHF Canada’s role as a national leader in strengthening and growing the co-operative housing sector, while remaining grounded in co-operative principles, democratic governance, and community impact.
The plan is built around three key strategic pillars:

- Vibrant and Democratic Membership Federation
Together, these pillars articulate what CHF Canada will prioritize, where it will focus its influence and resources, and how it will steward growth responsibly.
Publications
As a member-driven association, the Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada brings the voices and experiences of housing co-operatives into conversations with governments at all levels. Our submissions, briefs, and responses reflect the realities of co-op communities and put forward practical, people-centred solutions to Canada’s housing challenges.
