Become a Member
Joining CHF Canada is easy.
There are three types of membership:
- Regular membership*: If your organization is a housing co-op, download and complete the membership application form and send it to our Ottawa office.
- Organizational membership: If your organization is not a housing co-op, but supports our mission, download and complete the organizational membership form and send it to our Ottawa office. An organizational member enjoys all the benefits of membership, but cannot vote or hold office.
- Individual membership: If you are an individual who supports our mission, send your name, address and phone number by email, and tell us why you’d like to join. Our staff will be in touch.
*If your co-op started up after May 1989 or is in Alberta, Newfoundland or certain parts of Ontario, there may be a bit more to joining. For example, in these areas you’ll need to be a member of both CHF Canada and the regional federation.
How much does membership cost?
Membership dues are approved by members every year at our Annual General Meeting. The dues rates for 2019 are:
|Type of Membership||Dues Rate|
|Housing Co-op||$4.45 per unit, per month|
|Student Housing Co-op||$9.10 per bed, per year|
|Co-ops under development||$129 per year|
|Associate membership||$344 per year|
|Individual membership||$129 per year|
You can use these amounts to estimate your membership dues. Taxes, regional levies, federation dues and discounts will be applied according to your location. For more information or to receive a quote, please contact Gaye Bissett at email@example.com
