Build Co-op Housing, Build a Better Newfoundland and Labrador | October 14 Provincial Election

Newfoundland and Labrador votes October 14th, with advance voting on October 7th. Let’s make sure all political parties understand that co-ops work — and with their support, we can build new co-op housing communities across Newfoundland and Labrador.

Today, NL is home to just under 400 households living in 21 co-ops. However, we’ll need even more to meet growing demand thanks to current housing challenges. Housing costs are rising across the province, and many people are struggling to find safe, stable, and affordable places to live.

Co-op housing is a proven, community-driven solution with many benefits over other forms of housing:

  • Without a profit motive, co-op rents remain affordable
  • Co-op members benefit from long-term security — your home cannot be sold out from under you, and there are no unexpected rent hikes or renovictions
  • Co-ops create strong communities, where residents have a say in how their buildings are managed and feel secure in their homes — maintenance, repairs, and capital improvements are managed collectively

Vote with housing in mind. Speak up and be a co-op housing champion this election.
