As part of last week’s announcement of a 2% cap on rent increases and a ban on renovictions during the pandemic, Housing Minister Chuck Porter also launched a new Affordable Housing Commission, which includes CHF Canada’s Manager Atlantic Region Karen Brodeur as a member.

The commission is made up of experts in the public, private, non-profit, and academic sectors and will make recommendations about affordable housing strategies and actions to the Province.

“It is great news”, said CHF Canada Member Services Director Patricia Tessier, “and is a credit to Karen’s hard work, knowledge and professionalism that leads to co-op housing being at the ‘big’ tables for these important discussions.”

The commision’s first set of recommendations is due in six months.
