Coming soon: Aging in Place network

Published November 09, 2021

Thanks to all those who took part in CHF Canada’s survey and consultations to transform the current Aging in Place Committee to a new national exchange network.

What we heard from you

An older Black man, shown from behind using a laptopBased on feedback received, a new Aging in Place Exchange Network will aim to help members and others supporting Aging in Place to share initiatives, knowledge, practices and the experiences of older co-op members related to aging in place.

Over the summer, we carried out a consultation process to gain insights and ideas on the network, its purpose, structure and implementation. The consultation consisted of a national online survey and an online focus group.

Thanks to your support in promoting the survey, over 150 co-operators responded to our survey including over 50 people who indicated an interest in direct involvement in the network. The three top activities of interest identified by respondents were information sharing, funding program news, and workshops.  The majority of respondents felt the group should be open to all who had an interest in aging in place.

What’s next?

We have compiled the survey and focus group results and plans are now underway to launch the new Aging in Place Exchange Network through an online platform and virtual event early in 2022.

The Network’s online platform will be a dedicated Aging in Place online community to help interested co-operators connect with each other between network events to share information and experiences about aging in place in co-op housing communities.

Stay tuned for more information on the official launch event and how to join!
