Use your voice: Call for the launch of the Co-operative Housing Development Program

With the rising cost of living and a growing housing crisis, new co-op housing is needed now more than ever.

You can speak up for more co-op housing development by calling on the federal government to launch the co-operative housing development program without delay.

In 2022, the federal government announced $1.5 billion to build new co-op housing through a Co-operative Housing Development Program — the first dedicated federal investment in co-op housing in 30 years. The co-op housing sector welcomed new investment after years of our collective advocacy, and we’ve put forward our expert advice during the co-design process.

But to start building new housing co-ops across the country, the program needs to start. That is why co-operative housing federations are calling on the federal government to launch this new program without delay.
