Virtual Fall Education Event concludes with positive reviews

Published December 16, 2020

This fall, CHF Canada worked with partners to provide an exciting mix of regional and national education webinars and networking opportunities from October 28 to November 30.

This first-ever Virtual Fall Education Forum attracted a total of 227 participants from across the country, covering a lot of new and vital topics in over 20 live and on demand sessions.  It also featured an online networking chat, a virtual exhibitor area, and door prizes.

The most popular sessions, each with over 60 attendees, were ‘Mental health and human rights’, ‘Cultivating teamwork within our communities’ and ‘A future for all: buildings, members and leaders’.

Member feedback

Here’s what co-op members had to say in the evaluations:

  • It was all very good….it made me want to learn more from other co-op boards what their best practices are and how they worked through some challenges.
  • I wish I had this information and tools 30 years ago.
  • Great idea for virtual workshop[s]. Time, inclusivity, flexibility, efficiency, well-being, and learning were positive benefits.
  • Please keep this up – I love the webinar format. Great content and facilitation.

“We’re pleased to hear such positive feedback from this new event,” said CHF Canada Program Manager, Education Sophie Cooper. “We’ll be looking at the evaluations surveys very closely as we plan for more virtual education sessions next year.”

We also received positive feedback from co-op property managers and staff.  “The virtual events make attending the workshops and events easy in these times,” said Karen Maki, Operations Manager for Marlor Maki Management.  “It’s a great, inexpensive way for me and my staff to learn and share experiences.”

The event site will stay open until the end of December so that participants who registered have access to their session recordings.  Anyone can visit the site to check out the announcements section.

CHF Canada will not be holding any in-person education events in the first half of 2021.  We will review the situation at that point.
