Notice of Contract Position: Manager, Co-operative Housing Development
The Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada is recruiting to fill a full time, three-year contract position of Manager, Co-operative Housing Development. The position will be based in Toronto, with a target starting date in mid-March/April 2018.
Reporting to the Director, Sector Development, the Manager, Co-operative Housing Development is responsible for creating a co-op housing development capacity within CHF Canada. They will explore options and opportunities for the creation of new co-op housing across the country including co op expansions, redevelopment and new options for the growth of the co-op housing sector and support the realization of these opportunities. They will work to develop and support a network of development parties, including community land trusts, for the purposes of information sharing and promoting sector growth.
Candidates must have a post-graduate degree or diploma, and five years’ residential real estate development experience, or professional experience in a related field. Knowledge of community-based non-profit housing development is desirable. Experience with the full development lifecycle including site identification and acquisition, financial analysis and feasibility, design, approvals, zoning requirements, negotiating and administering contracts and working with general contractors is required.
Candidates must be able to work with minimal supervision, have excellent analytical and financial skills, and superior negotiation and communication skills to effectively balance competing or different interests and to move multiple parties towards a shared, mutually acceptable resolution of issues. Experience working with non-profit boards of directors and familiarity with housing co operatives is desirable.
The position requires frequent travel. Candidates must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends. The salary is commensurate with experience. CHF Canada offers an excellent benefits package. CHF Canada is an equal opportunity employer.
