We’re hiring: Program Manager, Policy and Government Relations

The Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada is recruiting for a full time (35 hours per week), temporary position of Program Manager, Policy and Government Relations. The position will be based in Ottawa (with consideration for an alternate location) for a 1 Year Term starting April 15, 2023, or as soon as possible.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Government Relations, the Program Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing CHF Canada’s government relations program in support of the growth and successful operation of the non-profit co-operative housing sector in Canada. The Program Manager will also play a key role in policy research and analysis, enabling CHF Canada to act legitimately and authoritatively as a voice for affordable and co-operative housing solutions and housing policy innovations. The Program Manager also engages and supports CHF Canada’s work with members and external stakeholders, including representing CHF Canada with elected officials and public servants.
What we’re looking for:
- A university degree in political science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience and proven track record in government relations, particularly at the federal political level.
- Good understanding of social housing in Canada and the co-operative housing sector.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent political organizing skills.
- Time management skills and the ability to set priorities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience establishing working relationships with municipal government representatives is an asset.
- Bilingualism French/English is an asset.
