CO-ORDINATOR, GOVERNMENT RELATIONS
The Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada (CHF Canada) is the umbrella membership association representing Canada’s housing co-operatives. We are recruiting to fill a six-month contract full-time position for a Co-ordinator, Government Relations for CHF Canada.
Reporting to CHF Canada’s Interim Manager, Government Relations, the Co-ordinator will be responsible for assisting in the execution of our government relations program. The candidate will play an important role in organizing and attending meetings with federal, provincial and municipal elected representatives as well as candidates for the 2019 Federal election.
The successful candidate will have a proven and extensive track record in government relations and experience at the municipal, provincial and/or federal political level. Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as superior administrative skills are required. The candidate is expected to exercise sound political judgement and have experience working for community-based organizations. A good understanding of affordable housing policy is an asset. The successful candidate will have a university degree in a related field or equivalent experience. Bilingualism (French/English) is preferred.
The start date for the position is targeted for early July. The position is located in Toronto, with some travel in southern Ontario expected. Frequent evening and weekend work and a valid driver’s license is required. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
