NOTICE OF CONTRACT POSITION: CO-ORDINATOR, CO-OPERATIVE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT

The Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada is recruiting to fill a full time, three-year contract position of Coordinator, Co-operative Housing Development. The position will be based in Toronto (other locations or remote work will be considered), with a target starting date of October 16 or November 1, 2021.

Reporting to the Manager, Co-operative Housing Development, the Co-ordinator will assist in the implementation of CHF Canada’s growth and development program.  They will be responsible for exploring options and identifying opportunities for the creation of new co-op housing through expansions, intensification, redevelopment and new options for the growth of co-op housing.  The Co-ordinator will evaluate and actualize opportunities for growing the stock of housing co‑operatives in specific markets — in some cases, this is a referral role, enabling co-op members to build new homes through referrals through our networks of industry professionals and governments; in other cases, this is project delivery with CHF Canada as a project partner. The Co-ordinator will engage with our members through preparation of communications to raise awareness of development and funding opportunities, and assisting education staff with resources and programming for members about member-led development projects.  They will also keep current on federal and provincial new construction funding programs/opportunities, assist CHF Canada and members to pursue funding opportunities, and cultivate and maintain relationships with various funding agencies.

Candidates must have:

  • a graduate degree or diploma, or professional experience in a related field (planning, engineering, architecture, real estate). Project Management Professional (PMP certification is an asset.
  • five years’ residential real estate development experience (demonstrated experience with full development lifecycle, including end-to-end project delivery).
  • experience working with non-profit boards of directors and familiarity with housing co-operatives and their supporting agencies is desirable.

Candidates must: be able to work with minimal supervision and have excellent analytical and financial skills; be organized and able to manage the demands of multiple long-term projects simultaneously; have knowledge of MS Office suite, Adobe suite, and Salesforce; have excellent oral and written communication skills, including delivery of complex concepts to a variety of audiences.  Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset.

The position will require occasional travel within Ontario.  Candidates must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends.  The position salary range is $64,089-$78,822 (2021) and the starting salary is commensurate with experience.  CHF Canada offers an excellent benefits package.  CHF Canada is an equal opportunity employer.
