JOB POSTING: Program Manager, Asset Management Services (1 permanent position/1 temporary)

The Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada is recruiting for one permanent and one temporary position of Program Manager, Asset Management Services starting as soon as possible. The positions are full time (35 hours per week) and the temporary position is for a 1 year term. The positions could be located at the Ottawa or Toronto office on a hybrid basis, in the Montreal area on a remote basis, or consideration may be given to an alternative location in Canada.

The Program Manager, Asset Management Services assists with the provision of property asset management and associated technical services as part of CHF Canada’s Asset and Financial Planning Services. They may also contribute to initiatives related to the growth and development of the sector. They assist with the preparation of long-term asset management plans and the procurement of technical documents and technical services on behalf of client co-operatives. They maintain a workflow data base for ongoing project co-ordination to ensure timelines are met and billing process are implemented.

They prepare asset management plans to support the long-term viability of housing co-ops, including building condition analysis, financial analysis, and financing/ refinancing scenarios. They assist co-ops to access asset funding and sustainability programs through government departments, agencies and/or other organizations. They support the area of sustainability through research, development, delivery, evaluation or promotion of sustainability resources and/or initiatives for CHF Canada members. They provide education and information workshops to member co-operatives and represent CHF Canada’s asset management planning program at various regional and national conferences and events.

What we’re looking for:

  • An undergraduate degree in business administration, economics, finance, urban planning, or a related building science discipline
  • Strong general knowledge of various building systems and energy management solutions (architectural, civil, site services, structural, mechanical and electrical systems, HVAC systems, building life safety systems) related to multi-residential buildings.
  • Three (3) years building operations and/or construction experience or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience preferred.
  • Specialized skills in asset management, building condition assessments, building operations, energy management and sustainability.
  • Advanced level of proficiency with spreadsheet programs (MS EXCEL), spreadsheet analysis tools and spreadsheet formulae, including experience in writing technical reports. Proficient with all other MS Office programs.
  • Thorough understanding of financial statements, including balance sheets, operating statements, cash flows, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic building construction elements and techniques, including procurement processes, bidding requirements and related contract law, and financing related to multi-unit residential properties.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including listening skills and plain language writing skills.
  • Preference will be given to qualified applicants who are bilingual (French/ English).
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends when required. Regional and national travel may be required.

Starting salary: $79,487 – $84,330
