JOB POSTING: Co-ordinator, Co-operative Housing Development

The Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada is recruiting for a full time (35 hours per week), temporary position of Co-ordinator, Co-operative Housing Development for a period of 1 year starting as soon as possible. The position will preferably be located in the Greater Toronto Area on a hybrid or remote basis. Alternative locations may be considered, including BC, MN, SK, ON, NS, NB, or QC (on a hybrid or remote basis).
Under the direction of the Manager, Co-operative Housing Development, the Co-ordinator, Co-operative Housing Development assists in the identification and evaluation of prospective co-operative housing developments. The Co-ordinator supports initiatives that explore options and identify opportunities for the creation of new co-operative housing in specific markets, co-op expansions, intensification, redevelopment and new options for the growth of the co-operative housing sector in Canada.
The Co-ordinator supports the Manager to deliver a fee-based development support service to existing and new housing co-operatives and associated entities. The Co-ordinator, monitors, maintains and responds to requests for information through an intake process. In consultation with staff and consultants, the Co-ordinator maintains CHF Canada’s Salesforce database to document the opportunity pipeline and upload relevant real estate development information and project information. The Co-ordinator also acts as the main point of contact for record retention and organization of departmental files outside of the Salesforce system.
The Co-ordinator prepares communications to board and staff of co-ops to raise awareness of development and funding opportunities. The Co-ordinator assists the Program Manager, Education Services with resources and programming for co-op member education on the topic of member-led development projects, which may include the preparation of educational materials.
What we’re looking for:
- A graduate degree or diploma, or professional experience, in a related field such as Planning, Engineering, Architecture, Real Estate or other. PMP certification is an asset.
- Five years’ residential real estate development experience. Demonstrated experience with full development lifecycle, including end-to-end project delivery.
- Knowledge of the Office 365 suite of applications, including excellent knowledge of MS Excel and financial modeling.
- Working knowledge of graphic design tools, including: Canva and/or Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Working knowledge of other software applications and productivity tools an asset, including: Salesforce, Adobe, Slack, Asana, Trello.
- Organized and able to manage the demands of multiple long-term projects simultaneously. Prioritization skills are essential.
- Experience working with non-profit boards and familiarity with housing co-operatives and their supporting agencies is an asset.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including delivery of complex concepts to audiences with a wide diversity of knowledge, skills and experience.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- French language skills are an asset.
